Boho maxi dress

I prefer not to speak about how long I haven´t posted or even visited my blog! There were some changes in my life that were positive but still quite time-consuming...

However, here I am again with a new breath :-)
And today, I am presenting you my daughter´s new dress, a long this time! I participated in a challenge on Facebook. The objective was to sew a long dress. Any kind of long dress. I made one for my daughter.
I let her chose the fabric. Well, I chose the material, I wanted it to be very soft, with a nice drape and for a hot weather. She had to make a choice among 5 or 6 kinds of fabric designs. As soon as I saw the fabric of her choice, I had a clear idea of what kind of dress I would make. A long dress, not too large but with quite a large ruche and a halter top, something in boho style.

I used the pattern Lola from the book Modèles chics pour enfants.

When I finished the dress, I felt it needed something... special. As I started to crochet a few months ago, I decided to add some crochet details. I used 3 different shades of violet cotton. How do you find it? A nice dress in boho style, isn´t it?

Happy sewing,

Forest Calendar 2016 to print at home

I was recently searching for the nice calendar for my daughter´s bedroom. Last year I printed a very cute, illustrated calendar I found on one of the blogs I follow. This year I could not find anything that would correspond my and my daughter´s tastes.

After having lost a lot of time searching, I have decided to save my time and make one.

As my sweetheart loves the nature, especially the forest and is fascinated by the wolves, the theme was easy to choose.

After having finished it, I thought I could share it with you, as well, perhaps some of you are searching for this kind of calendar, as well.

I used the pictures found on different websites. According to their administrators, they should be copyright free. They were free to download, I offer my calendar for free, as well, I would just like to ask you to use it for personal use only. Thanks a lot. To download, just click here, please.

Well, today you can download and print the first page - January 2016. Later this month I will share February with you.

Please note that you can also have it in French if it´s useful for you (I guess some of your kids are learning foreign languages...).

I am looking forward to show it to my little sweetheart, I hope she will like it... What do you think? How do you find it?

C U soon!

Blouse with lace and pintucks

The newest blouse in the wardrobe of my daughter.

The pattern is home-made, I´ve seen a similar model somewhere and I decided I had to sew one for her. It has everything I love: pintucks on the front, some lace, contrasting piping, high-low hem and it twirls! My daughter appreciates the log sleeves with elastic hem. She hates 3/4 sleeves, especially if she has to put the sweater on it!

I tried to play with the pintucks. Unfortunately, the details are not really visible as the design of the fabric is quite busy.

I used the buttons from the daddy´s old Hilfiger shirt. :-)

And here is one of the sleeves:

I like it for its cuteness and wearability. It is easily combined with several colors and styles. Here it is worn with mini perle skirt and gray sweater but the most often she wears it with the skinny gray jeans for the casual look.

Thanks for passing by. See you soon.

Happy sewing,

Ottobre shirt

While I sewing the Origami dress, I was already thinking about using this tender butterfly fabric to make a shirt that could accompany it. I loved that cotton, it´s so sweet, so girly...

I was looking for a simple pattern that would go with the fabric. And after having received the newest edition of Ottobre design, I knew immediately I found what I was looking for!

Well, it´s the pattern Tiny Pussy Bow issued from Ottobre design 6/2015. It´s made in size 128.

As far as the modifications are concerned:

I omitted the bow on the front.

I added the piping on the back. I was looking for some piping in my stash and I found the rest of the light rose piping that left from one of the recent projects - Mini perle dress.

I modified the back part a little: I made a bow pleat instead of gathering it.
It combines great with the Mini Perle skirt:

As well as the Origami dress:

The light rose lip balm goes well with it, too, according to my daughter :-)
Well, it´s really a simple shirt, easy to make but quite wearable and practical. I am pretty happy with it. What´s your opinion?

Happy sewing,

Origami CAP SLEEVE dress

The dress I am going to show you today has been cut almost a year ago. For some reason I interrupted the project, I put it aside and forgot it completely. I recently found and finished it. And, hopefully, it is not too small!

It´s made of blue Corduroy fabric and contrasting pink poplin lining. I used the Cap sleeve pattern from Ottobre design 6/2013.

I modified the back part of the dress as I really wanted to put an exposed zipper, not an invisible one.
I also added some topstitching (on the front I used the decorative stitches), hand embroidery in two colour tones and the origami butterfly. I love all these details. The pink butterfly is made by my princess herself following the free tutorial by Les lubies de Louise. There is the link to her pdf tutorial. It´s in French but it´s quite clear oven for those not speaking French, it´s a step-by-step tutorial full of pictures. It´s easy to follow, really.

I put two faux pocket flaps on the front as planned according the pattern. There are lined with the same pink poplin as the rest of the dress.

I made several serious mistakes while sewing and cutting! But what silly mistakes, really!
I cut some pieces of the dress in the wrong direction! That´s why some parts seem to be of a slightly different colour... Then I reversed the steps - I was so concentrated on the zipper that I did not really think about the order of the steps... So I ended up with a nice zipper but in the next step I realised I could not turn the dress when needed, because the zipper was already installed... Well, really really a shame!

However, I finally finished it!
I think my princess is happy with the dress and so am I.

Happy you passed by.

C U soon and
HAPPY SEWING!
